Since last weeks post was all about the blog, I am going to dedicate this one to myself. An “about me” I suppose. I apologize in advance if it is a little lengthy. But let’s be honest: who doesn’t love to talk about themselves?
The people who know me best would describe me as a "dork.” Whether that stems from the before mentioned fantasy novel obsession or the fact that I still wear retainers to bed at 20 years old, I’m not sure. But what's so wrong with being...you?
I love this line from Modern Family: “This is the funny thing about growing up. For years and years everyone’s desperately afraid to be different — in any way — and then suddenly, almost over night, everybody wants to be different. And that is where we win.” So true.
Growing up I always felt like an outsider. I couldn’t care less about fashion, who said what about who, or who had what party. I loved books, working hard to get somewhere, and eating whatever I wanted, simply because it tastes great.
But look at me now? So so incredibly happy.
I think a big part of who you are can be defined in the people closest to you. Is it cliché to say I have the best friends in the world?
The other day a bunch of them came and visited me at work (one of my jobs is serving.)
Left to right: Jake, Kyle (boyf), Joe, Mr. and Mrs. McGauley (boyf’s rents), Britta (sis), Dianne, Jordan, Timmy (bro-in-law), Marcel, Cory.
How great are they?
After they left my boss looked at me and said, “Can you get some ugly friends, please?”
This is my dog, Mike. He is probably the only lab in the world that doesn’t fetch or eat crumbs off the floor. He always sleeps with his head on a pillow, and loves bananas.
So rad.
I love to travel. A couple of days ago I bought a ticket to New York. First timer. So stoked. My best friend lives in Connecticut. I miss her every day, so I cant wait to visit her. I am also going to Jersey to visit my friend Mel (a mate from Australia).
Joe (the one in the beanie in the picture above) says I am in my "Australia phase," meaning I talk about it whenever I can. I hope I never grow out of it. In fact, here is a video from my travels there. If any of you get the opportunity to go, go. Greatest experience ever. So here is a shout out to all my Oz friends! I miss you all, so so so much. Enjoy the vid.
Ok. Im done for now. Until next time, cheers!
